Q&A

Q: Who is this for?

A: 1-Click Linux is for users who have problems with Windows, who are unable to find tech support, and are ready to try unconventional solutions.

Q: Why should I use it?

A: Windows is getting worse and worse. 1-Click Linux is the easiest way to quit.

Q: I love this! Where can I get this?

A: For now, this is alpha quality software, so you should not probably buy it just yet. It has not been extensively tested, so it might hang, crash, or permanently damage your hardware. I am not joking unfortunately. This type of software routinely leads to SEVERE ISSUES, including rendering your computer useless.
That does not mean it never works. It does for me.

Q: I want to buy it anyway.

A: You have been warned! Go here.

Q: How do I know when the beta or the official release comes?

A: Sign up for the newsletter. Never sending junk - unsubscribe any time.

Q: Why should I pay for this? Isn't Linux free?

A: Because I worked hard to make this installer and paid for this website. You are still free to install Linux your way. Especially if you currently use Windows, which cost >$100 USD2, you might as well pay me some minor amount. I want to eat too.

Q: If I need to pay, can I get something for spreading the word?

A: YES! Once you buy it, you can share a referral code for others to get a discount, and for you to earn.3

Q: Can I (or someone else) review the source code?

A: Yes, however commercial, this is libre software, you get the source with the binaries, and you can experiment with it however you please, provided you adhere to the license.

Q: How does this software protect my privacy?

A: It makes zero network connections and never collects any data whatsoever. You can uninstall it any time by running the downloaded binary and choosing the option.

Q: What distros will be supported?

A: For now I only want to support one distro, Zorin Core, and only one specific version. Once I get the first penny out, I will start processing feature requests.

  1. ^ hi Mom
  2. ^ Source: The official website to buy Windows (the cheaper edition). No, not a single Windows copy was ever a free extra; unless you want to tell me something...
  3. ^ why is handling money so complicated? If I succeed, I will definitely share my 'business model' for you to benefit from, too, if you are a 'creative worker', so that you do not have to go through all this.

It works! 🔗

The current prototype consists of two files: a self-contained executable file and an official disk image from the recommended distro (Zorin Core). Once you click on the executable, it prompts for disk access and asks several questions in order to configure a one-time reboot to live Linux, with the option to install permanently.

The only piece left before starting the public beta is figuring out some per-download payments.
